As many of you are aware, we recently announced the date for the next Rottnest Swimrun as May 4th 2019. Following this announcement, we had an overwhelming response of disappointment due to the clash with other endurance events.
After a lot of discussion and a few more back and forths on potential late summer/autumn dates with our stakeholders, we have decided to postpone the Rottnest Swimrun to later in the year, likely leading into next summer.
No doubt some will also be disappointed by this change, but given the response to May 4, we didn’t feel right keeping the date and cannot find another solution that works for Rottnest, our event partners and us personally. We will come back bigger and better so stay tuned.
On a separate note, the response to the proposed date was a timely reminder of the Swimrun ethos – have fun, support and respect each other, don’t take yourselves too seriously, and enjoy an experience in a unique natural environment. Let's keep the Swimrun community a positive one.
Finally, thanks for your ongoing support. We understand that much of the feedback we received was because people are passionate about being part of Rottnest Swimrun, and for that we are grateful.
